Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 August 2026

ScorSport ("we", "us") provides live scores, statistics, and match data. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site, why, and what rights you have over it.

No accounts, no personal data collection

ScorSport does not currently offer user accounts, registration, or login, and we do not collect email addresses. We do not process payments and we do not ask you to identify yourself. The site is designed to be used anonymously, and we collect no directly identifying information about our visitors.

Who is responsible for your data

ScorSport is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Our address is Caminho das Virtudes, 43, 9000-163 Funchal, Portugal. For any privacy question, write to privacy@scorsport.com.

What we collect and why

Because there are no accounts, everything we collect is either a small first-party cookie that remembers a preference on your device, or an anonymous, aggregate measurement of how the site is used. We do not build profiles of individual visitors and we do not sell any data.

Legal basis for processing

We rely on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site for the functional cookies, rate limiting, and aggregate analytics described below. If and when a third party (such as Google AdSense) sets cookies for advertising purposes, that processing will rely on your consent, to be collected through a consent banner before any such cookie is set.

Cookies we set

All cookies we set ourselves are first-party, functional, and never used to track you across other websites.

NamePurposeDuration
MF_COUNTRYRemembers which country/edition of the site you prefer.1 year
MF_THEMERemembers whether you chose the light or dark theme.1 year
MF_FAV / MF_FAV_MMirrors, for server-side rendering, the favourite teams and matches saved in your browser's local storage.1 year
MF_PINMirrors, for server-side rendering, the pinned leagues saved in your browser's local storage.1 year

Local and session storage

Beyond the cookies above, your browser's local and session storage hold a few more values on your device:

  • theme — mirrors the MF_THEME cookie, so your light/dark choice applies instantly on your next visit, before the page finishes loading from the server.
  • mf.fav.v1 — the primary store for the teams and matches you've marked as favourites. The MF_FAV and MF_FAV_M cookies mirror it so a server-rendered page can show your favourites correctly on first load.
  • mf.pin.leagues.v1 — the primary store for the leagues you've pinned. The MF_PIN cookie mirrors it for the same reason.
  • sound-enabled — remembers whether you've muted match-event sound alerts.
  • ma-analytics-session — an anonymous, randomly-generated session identifier used for the advertising analytics described below. It lives in sessionStorage rather than localStorage, so it's cleared automatically when you close the browser tab.

Analytics we collect ourselves

We record anonymous events about how advertising is displayed and interacted with — which ad slot and variant were shown, the event type (impression, click, or dismiss), a session identifier generated by your browser, the A/B test bucket, your locale, the sport and page you were viewing, and your browser's user agent string, together with a timestamp. This lets us measure ad performance without identifying you personally.

Your IP address is used only transiently, in memory, to enforce a rate limit against abuse — it is never written to our database.

Third parties

Vercel Analytics measures aggregate traffic to the site (page views, load performance) so we can keep it fast and reliable.

Google AdSense is currently enabled only on the Portuguese (scorsport.pt) edition of the site, and only once ad units have been configured. Once active, AdSense will set its own cookies and may serve personalised advertising. For visitors in the EEA and the UK, consent for personalised advertising will be collected through a Google-certified consent message before any such cookie is set.

Team, league, and player images are loaded directly from api-sports.io and our Cloudflare R2 storage, so your browser makes requests to those third-party servers whenever a page includes an image.

International data transfers

Vercel and Google operate infrastructure in multiple countries, including outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens, they rely on their own safeguards (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data in transit.

How long we keep data

Cookies expire automatically after the duration listed in the table above, or sooner if you clear them yourself. The aggregate advertising analytics described above are kept only for as long as needed to measure and report on ad performance, and are never used to build a profile of an individual visitor.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or erase any personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. Because we don't collect directly identifying information, most requests will simply confirm that we hold nothing linked to you personally — but the aggregate advertising data can be looked up by the session identifier if you can provide it. Contact us using the details below to exercise any of these rights.

How to complain

If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, we'd like the chance to put it right — write to us first. You can also lodge a complaint with the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the supervisory authority for the UK GDPR, at ico.org.uk.
